>>> Not to sound like a party-pooper, but mightn't it be dangerous to advertise (or even to have) gaming as an important part of the site? As you have said before, Tyll, a large share of your market resides in the audiophile world and comes from Stereophile and the such. Isn't it possible that they might be turned off by even a reference to gaming?

Although this may be a ligitimate concern, and some audiophiles will be turned off, my comment is, "Then piss-off you snooty snob!" I know allready that there are orders I don't get just because I'm a bit (maybe a bit more than a bit) flippant when I name my products. I guess I've always had the attitude that if I'm true to myself and my desire to help people find just the right headphone for their application that, though people may be a little off-put in the short run, I would get a reputation for being real and reliable in the long run and that would make my business strong.

ALL RIGHT!!!! The headphones are cross-platform compatible.....I was wondering when Sennheiser would start doing that - they can't ignore Apple they way they have. I guess they took a hint from Grado

Seriously.....what the heck are these guys thinking?

lol......it's amazing the same people who made THOSE could make HD-495s/HD-565s/HD-580s/HD-600s.....

I guess the headphone jacks on those Linux machines aren't industry-standard

Yeah, and having to mount the freakin' headphone jack every time is really annoying!

ACK!!! I was reading what you all wrote on your New website about gaming headphones....

And, Tyll, I speak from experience, Grado's AREN'T good for accurate A3D positioning... trust me, do some more tests, ask some more people...Generally, it takes a closed headphone, even, say, the Sony MDR-CD380, to give good gaming algorithm positioning. Of course, you all have a LOT of open headphones to test, so maybe you all could find which ones WORK for gaming....?

If you can manage it, buy or download counterstrike (I am *SURE* at least one worker at Headroom has it....right? Right? Or at least half-life, so you CAN download Counterstrike), and test out the positioning with various cans with that using A3D. Because, chances are, that's what gamers will be wanting to use headphones for....

Well, most headphones companies (expect Stax and Grado) make almost nothing but crap with a few great and some really great headphones thrown in for us

Well, REAL gamers will want A3D... but we are precious few w/ Creative taking over!

Supposedly, I think that the Hercules Game Theatre XP's headphone virtualizer is better..... and I think that there's ONE equal to A3D.

That's why I said to ask Mark. He knows about such things. *grins* I know that, in the recent past, A3D *was* king, and that it works quite well in Counterstrike with my DT-831's. Doesn't work quite well in CS with my SR-60's, though. So, like, that's why we gotta get mark, or something.

By the way, the webpage of "Headphones for gaming" is: http://207.66.131.158/headroom2/layo...subTopicID=125 .

Those Senn M@H40 headphones look like they are disposable...and the M@H20 look exactly like the Sony MDR-crap023 painted white.

Well, as a ex-computer gaming myself, I clicked on that link and saw that Headroom recommends the HD580 as gaming headphones.. From personal experience, I don't think that they are good for gaming...and I can't picture your average gamer spending over $100 for headphones, much less, buying an amp.

OTOH, my Koss UR-20 weren't too bad for CS. Closed design seems to works well for gaming... and for the higher end, maybe someone with the Denon AHD's would like to comment.
