Downloaded the flac encoder, but I can't figure out how to make songs from my CD's into WAV files. It is apparently the only format usable for flac encoding. Please help!

You will need a program called ExactAudioCopy which is free to rip WAV files.

And then use MP3Tag program for ID tagging

Do a google on them and you will find the place to download them.

Do you use a Mac or a PC? If the latter, then Exact Audio Copy will interact with FLAC and freedb seamlessly, provided you have downloaded FLAC 1.1.2 and configured EAC correctly. After doing both of the above, follow the directions on Hydrogen Audio for ripping to FLAC.

Or you could try Winamp Pro and the FLAC encoder for it.
