I snagged a brand new pair of Beyerdynamic DT 811s off of eBay recently. I was interested because a) they were new in box(and probably one of the last NIB pairs in existance), and b) I liked the DT 801.
They've only had about 20 hours of playing time, but they don't improve on enough aspects of the DT 801 to really warrant me keeping them. The sound is much more upfront than a typical Beyer, with an almost Grado-like sound quality to it. They would be perfect for someone who finds Grados to be a bit harsh or overbearing, but wants a similar sound balance. Keep in mind these were released in 1990, so they've been sitting in a box for over a decade I'm sure. They could use a lot more burn-in!
I purchased these for a total of $72 off of eBay, so I'm SOLD in the USA. Keep in mind these are virtually brand new. I've only had them for a few days. Please PM if you have any questions!
