Registration is now CLOSED for the 2007 International Head-Fi Meet - Page 10

I don't think so, as it sounds like most are going to be there both days. Of course you'd miss a lot more by not coming at all, than only coming Saturday

Also, should I bring my headphones, or is it not worth it (I am sure a lot of other people will have 225s)
My advice is to bring at least one set of your own phones, so you can walk around with them and plug in to the various set ups. It's a good way to distinguish between new components because you'll start with at least one known quantity.

Not sure we've nailed it down yet...working plan is that doors will open at 10am both days (probably earlier on Saturday for those who have tables & need to set up) and end Sunday at 4pm.

Ending time on Saturday is a bit indeterminate, we'll lock the doors to the main rooms around 8-10pm for security reasons, but general merriment will likely continue until ???.

Of course! Friday night in particular, we'll need help setting up a lot of power strips. A thread pleading for volunteers is coming soon.

Greetings, O episiarch!
Will our guests get the avatar of the person they are attending with, or just no avatar?
Or the words "Guest of bhjazz" or "Guest - do not taunt"???

That's a smart idea.
It's a toss-up for me. I really believe it is THE BEST way to have a known quantity for what you are listening to. On the other hand, I want to experience everything I can get my hands on down there, so therein lies my quandry. I mean, if the K701 works like a charm with something, I wanna hear it!

It'll be "Guest of bjhazz" with your avatar (but probably a smaller version of the avatar - layouts are still being tweaked).

Speaking of avatars, those of you with an animated avatar will be badged with the first frame of the animation only. Animated badges will not be available until later meets (and even then perhaps only to non-muggles).

FIRST POST!

Greetings all! I'm proud to say that this is my FIRST post on Head-Fi. I had the distinct pleasure of joining Head-Fi and shortly thereafter registering for the 2007 International Meet as well. I'm eagerly looking forward to attending the meet.

I must mention that I have been an ardent admirer of Head-Fi for quite some time (probably several years) but have not gotten around to joining until now. (my apologies!)

I have learned a great deal by just reading as many posts as possible when time allowed. I have been astounded by the collective knowledge and expertise exhibited by Head-Fi members. Although I'm a musician (piano) with a fairly good ear, the critical listening skills I've observed on this forum leave me in the dust! So what I'm trying to say is I look forward to learning much more in the future from all the impressive members of Head-Fi and hope to meet many of you in San Jose!

One concern I do have is spending so much time on this forum that I end up not having time to listen to my headphones! Oh yes, one more concern, dare I say, may involve the startling potential reduction in financial resources. Good grief! Well, at least the International Meet is a bargain indeed. See you there!

Good news, gang. Rudi Stor of Rudistor Systems and Justin Wilson of HeadAmp have agreed to join the already star-studded panel discussion. Very cool.

Registration cutoff Thursday 4/19

Cross-posted in the announcements thread:

The last day to register for the Meet and get a customized badge will be Thursday April 19th.

After that date you may still be able to register online (no promises), but instead of a cool personalized badge preprinted with your username and avatar, you'll get a boring generic badge. One with your username scribbled on it with a felt-tip pen.

The choice is yours.

Just to be clear, I'm not being mean and arbitrary here. We need a day to physically produce the badges, and the day between Thursday and the start of the Meet is that day. If your registration's not in by the time I start, I'll have to put you on the 'generic' pile.

Also, a word to those of you who don't have avatars yet. You really ought to get one. I think you'll be sorry if you come to the Meet and people are squinting to read your username off your badge instead of glancing at your avatar and recognizing you immediately. Thursday's the last day to input/update your avatars too.

I tried performing these refunds as PayPal partial refunds, but unfortunately our system here could not tell the difference between a partial refund and a full refund, and was removing people who were given the partial refund from the registration list. As such, all refunds have to be done manually, and I will try to get to that as soon as I can.

Again, those who paid the original, higher 2007 International Head-Fi Meet ticket prices will get a refund to make up the difference between what they paid and the newer, lower pricing.
Jude no need for a refund on my end, just throw it in the Headfi kitty
