er4p quality issues?

I've had mine for about a month and they're busted already. The wire inside the chord is loose and theres no sound.

For those who have been on these forums a long time, have you noticed quality issues with the er4 series? It worries me that the warranty on these are only 90 days, which is bull for the price they charge. When Westone and Shure are offering 2 year warranties why the hell wouldnt etymotic, unless theyre just not confident in their quality.

Yep I have never read any problem with getting warranties from Etymotic. Most of the time I will hear stories that they will replace cracked tubes even if they has outlived the warranty - cracked tubes should not be happening at all.

Just email them and it will be solved.

Had some problems with my ER6is, and the customer service person from Ety was awesome. She not only offered to replace them (they were out of warranty), but when I realized it was just the filter (doh!), she sent me a "care package" of free filters, tips, etc. One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had.

Check the filters, see if they r dirty, that can greatly affects the sound. Sometimes they are dirty, but they don't really show up visually, so I would say try to replace the filter first (for the side that doesn't sound anymore), if still no sound, contact Etymotic.

Whoops...why was I so sure they were only 90 days? O well, nevermind my post then, I feel a lot more comfortable about my purchase. Thanks for the info.

Looks like they've improved their warranty policy. You used to have to register your product to qualify for the full warranty (eg 2 years instead of 1 year for the ER4 and 1 year instead of 90 days for the ER6i)

I've never had to use the warranty though and I've had the ER4P w/ P-S cable and two pairs of ER6i before moving onto Shure. Build quality seems top notch although the ER4 weren't the most ergonomic headphones
