Hey, if anyone finds a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds CD in their player, it's mine.

It started out with a 12at7 on an adapter tube which was nice but later on Mikhail put in a Ken-Rad VT-231 Black Glass and it made a nice improvement in the sound of the amp (which was already great to begin with).

Well I'm home, after an afternoon of hanging with Stevieo and Mike. BTW Steve wasn't at the seedy club with Numbskull and Mr Defender. I DID wonder how the heck they got away with snapping pictures on the phone and sending them out to Mike, Steve, and I. Glad to see they got what was coming.

So, what a great weekend we had down there. I arrived late on Friday night after a few delays. My plane came from Chicago to Tampa before heading further south, so the delays were somewhat justified. Mike picked me up and took me to the hotel for a few hours of beer drinking and complaining about what a long hard day I'd had while waiting to go to bed (it was 24 hours awake on Friday, just had to hit that mark.)

Saturday morning Joe and I slept in a very long time. Eventually woke up and went with Vicky to go pick up Ray Samuels. Had a fun ride there and back punctuated with some very fun unprintable moments. Most people in this hobby are simply one of a kind but Vicky is even more so. Don't worry, I think she'll take that as a compliment.

The meet was VERY eventful but I hardly listened to any gear. Quite a few rigs sounded great but I kept gravitating back to the HE-90's running from an Egmont. If only SOMEONE had brought a turntable! I didn't take any cd's down, just four great records and had nowhere to play them (until later that is.)

It's been stated before, but Melinda is a beautiful head-fi baby. She loved being held and all of us guys (and gals) were happy to oblige, giving Gary and Xenia a chance to enjoy the music. As Wayne said, "love your work so far, keep it up." Gary won the Tomahawk raffle and no doubt the amp will have a special personalized "Melinda" designation.

I don't know if the alcohol consumption in the meet room was technically "legal" but it made for an even more fun meet. Some high quality scotch, rum, and bourbon made the rounds and eventually a few hilarious situations emerged involving Steve (pretty buzzed) and Ray (sober as usual). Those two need their own reality show or something.

Enjoyed meeting some new folks at the meet (and the surrounding events). Al (Voltron) is a cool guy, but his luck ran out with the Tomahawk raffle. Let's hope he keeps defending the universe anyway. Flecom had a posse of nerds (sorry guys) displaying some homebrew rigs. All sounded great despite various stages of ugly/deadliness. Highlife (Dominic) caught on to the true spirit of Florida head-fi pretty quickly: nonstop insanity. The gear is secondary to the constant stream of insults, jokes, and reprehensible actions. I think he appreciated the vibe. He also picked up Gene's iGrado on the cheap after I saw it sitting in a corner and had to take a listen. Not bad is all I can say, this being my one true gear impression of the weekend. Oh and the GS-1000 did absolutely nothing for me. /gear impressions.

The night at Let There Be Sound was great as always. Thanks guys for indulging me on the Television and Iron & Wine LP's. The former was a little bright but still highly enjoyable to these ears, and the second was absolutely perfect. Oz is a lucky man, since potential profits bar anyone from calling him a madman like the rest of us.

That's it for now, home now enjoying some badly mastered Chili Peppers on my Klipsch computer speakers and enjoying it immensely (my rig is currently disassembled for a move). Proof that it's still all about the music.

I would like to post some impressions - there are so many, though, that present available time will not allow - have company, and must be social - hope to get back later tonight.

I must share this, though, because it is the kind of thing that sets FL meets apart. The Master of the Universe, aka Voltron, does not fly out to the west coast till 7:00 pm tonight, so jp11801 volunteers to show him the sights. Stevieo is still in town and joins them. While some people's idea of the sights are the scenic, artful, or architectural, Johnnie Nums thinks in terms of beer bars, record shops, and hole in the wall entertainment venues (my kind of man). Anyway, I get home, am walking from car to front door, and my cell chimes with a message. Check it, and it's a closeup of strippers in action from very close range. It's from Nums, so I call him right away. Voltron answers Nums' phone - they are, indeed at a female dancing establishment on South Beach, but Nums and Stevieo are tied up at the moment negotiating their freedom from a rather large bouncer for taking photos. All ends well for our heroes, but just wanted to share a not untypical moment of what can go on during the weekend of a FL meet. Attend at your own peril.
first of all it was a fine dining establishment on Ocean and no articles of clothing came off during any of the dances!! While I expect that kind of slanderous scambogery banter from you about me I need to protect the immaculate reputation of the Defender of the Universe.

All Hail Tyrion the Meet Master

Sorry Frank, I missed it. I had good intentions but just never made it over. Actually, I made it over but talked instead of listened.

Also, for those that didnt go....Steveo wins my vote for the funniest thing ever. Ill let Ray speak up for that..was soo gross...i gagged for a second.

Thanks to HiFiHaxor for making my cable, thanks to Flecom for the wire, thanks to Gene (i think it was Gene) for selling me those grado's, which i love.

Again, thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome. I know i was the new guy, but you guys really made me feel like ive known you all for years.
It was great meeting you. Dinner was great. The funny thing is that when my family got home after being away, guess where I picked dinner up from? You guessed it, Kiko's.

Those pics are too funny. The poor guy was exhausted from the day before. He was up 24 hours. On top of that we had a mini meet Friday night until 3:30am.

Where do you come up with this stuff.

Miguel was there? I thought I saw him, rubbed my eyes to make sure I really saw him, and then he was gone.

The fact that Steveio was not with the pic offenders does not absolve him. The question only shifts to which seedy bar was he at with you?

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Too bad I was driving.

Yes, Melinda is even cuter and sweeter than one month ago. Congrats on the Tomahawk, Gary. I'm jealous.

Right ...

Ok, I do owe my roomie and soulmate, Voltron, a sincere apology for my slanderous post - he is Defender of the Universe, not Master - I keep getting that messed up.

I thought you said Steveio was with you? Obviously this is your mistake, not mine, so no apology needed there. Besides, Steveio has been dragged through the dirt so much already, another disparagement hardly matters.
