Curious... What kind of activites will get you Banned from Head-Fi?

I ask this in all seriousness, I want to make sure I don't do anything worthy of banning. I have noticed more and more members getting banned lately. Is there a general "Don't do this" list?

Mods if you delete this, can you please PM me an answer to this question?

thanks,
Garrett

Or just post it here so we all know.

I would think it would consist of any or all of the following: scamming other members, flipping new items in order to make a profit, constantly causing political or religious debate, being derogatory toward other forum members on a constant basis, making multiple Head-fi accounts, and just being generally disruptive on a continual basis... That's about all I can think up off the top of my head.

Drinking and posting, telling the mods to go perform sexual acts on themselves, spamming, personal attacks, overuse of the word "pretzel", sending wmcmanus a really long list of things you want for christmas, peeping, not wearing pants

General common sense stuff, I guess

This site is pretty liberal compared to AVSforum..

I'd say **** avatars. Racial slurs. Spamming & scamming. Personal attacks in multiple threads..

First, reread the TOS, or well...read it for the first time. Most just agree, click, agree, click agree, click...REGISTERED!

Read the rules of the forum and act like you would at a school in front of your principle, or a professor, or a minister/priest/rabbi.

This site is focused towards a general audience, that is...10 year olds to 100 year olds. Yes there are times things get into the PG-13 or AA zone, but overall the R-rated stuff is deleted, and those that attempt to post stuff that would be in that range (language, sexual remarks, inappopriate links etc) gets a warning/ban. Breaking the rules gets a warning/ban. Perpetually doing so, or doing some really heinous act = permanent ban.

http://www.head-fi.org/documents/rules.html

There will be a re-writing of the rules soon to add some things, and clarify some existing things/issues.

However, some things you just can't cover specifically, and so fall under the broader points of the rules, like "Head-Fi reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to temporarily or permanently ban any individuals. In most cases, the individual who was banned will be contacted with a reason for the ban." Example? Today, someone was banned for posting a video of something that only a complete imbecile would assume allowable here--let's just say one couldn't have possibly thought to draft a rule that would have specifically covered the content of that one.

Why was he banned for it? Because anyone who is so thoughtless and imbecilic that he'd post something like that--particularly early on after registering here--is someone who is obviously screaming that he'd need to be watched/babysat.

NOTE: I just noticed that after the recent template revisions, the rules link (at the top of this post) disappeared. I'll put it back up later (or tomorrow).

I hope that answers your question(s), kramer5150. If not, PM me.

If I got banned from Head-fi, my productivity at work would increase 10 fold.

If I was banned, there might actually be money in my wallet the next time I checked it.
