Wow, I didn't expect this number of responses! I am very impressed.

There is a-lot of stuff here that I haven't heard of. Going to be checking it all out over the next month.

Thanks!

I can't believe I didn't think to suggest this (probably because it's not synthpop), but check out Jun Togawa. Very bizarre. If you don't hate her to death, you'll probably love her.

I've recently listened and liked the album Speak For Yourself by Imogen Heap and I think it fits your genre.

Wow, I guess New Order is pretty hip. I recognized Felix da Housecat, Mylo and the Scissor Sisters from their remixes/collabs with New Order.

Kylie Minogue collabed with the Pet Shop Boys, and Larry Tee did tons of stuff for Yaz's recent greatest hits album-related singles. What I usually do is hit the big Technopop acts of the 80's and see what fresh faces they're using these days to stay in the game - see who's remixing Erasure, Depeche Mode, New Order, Pet Shop Boys and the like in other words.

They can usually afford the big ticket mixers, like Madonna can. In fact, Madonna got the Pet Shop Boys to remix "Sorry" for her, which shows you she's bigger than them all.

The new album from The Blow (Paper Television) has been highly recommended to me by people who like this type of music.

Maybe Broadcast ("Tender buttons", 2005) and Ms John Soda ("Notes and the Like", 2006) will fit your tastes. Ms John Soda is kind of a spinoff from the Notwist.

I've personally been on the Knife, Broadcast and Ladytron quite alot lately.

Have you followed Depeche Mode's recent efforts? At some point, this band will have to finally have respect paid, as much as it will pain those who will have to give it. The quality does not lag. They still have it. Check out their recent efforts if you don't have them already.

Beyond that, Goldfrapp's last 2 albums are *exactly* what you are looking for.

^ Huge Mode fan Mr. Walker.

You're right about Goldfrapp. I do lover her style; like Felt Mountain more than Supernature.
Thanks.

That is an excellent strategy Jahn. I employ it often myself.

And nfinitesymphony, Davey, Debaser86, Ampliyufr, Bluto, GlendaleViper, Scrith, Fileunderwater...I appreciate the recs! Like I typed in page 1. Over the next month, well maybe two now, I will be checking out every suggestion that I haven't heard.

Thank you very much!

electro-pop suggestions

I just skimmed the posts, so I don't know if I am being repetitious. But LCD Soundsystem should be included.

You should give a try to old-school electronic music, some of which is probably too arty/ambient for you (e.g. Eno), but some may be in your wheelhouse. You can't go wrong with most Kraftwerk, particularly the double live "Minimum-Maximum", which has dance-worthy versions of classic Kraftwerk tracks. Also in the old-school vein is some bands from the post-punk, art-disco scene of the early 80s (Shriekback, Liquid Liquid, Bush Tetras, Delta 5 etc.).

I know this may be a little far afield, but if you are looking for ideas . . .

I definitely agree with the Royksopp suggestion. How about some Bjork?

Everything Apoptygma Berzerk is great, but their most recent album might particularly suit your needs. I'm not actually sure if it's out yet, but it's called Sonic Diary and is a disk of remixes, mostly 80s electro pop stuff. And if it wasn't electro pop before, it is after Apoptygma gets done with it.
