Looking for more modern synth pop/electro pop...suggestions please!

I love this genre, but have run into a bit of a wall lately. I know it's kind of a crap shoot here. However, if anyone can help or point me somewhere that can, it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking for recent artists (my 80's collection is fairly extensive), and my collection of new stuff includes:

Adult, Alice in Videoland, Anthony Rother, Client, The Dignity of Labor, Dirty Vegas, The Echoing Green, Felix da Housecat, Figurine, Fischerspooner, Freezepop, Ganymede, Glow, Goldfrapp, The Hacker, Hotchip, IAMX, I Satellite, I Synthesist, The Knife, Kylie Minogue, Ladytron, Larry Tee, Miss Kitten, Mylo, Nukleon, Peaches, The Postal Service, Robots in Disguise, Small Sins, Spray, Scissor Sisters, t.A.T.u, VNV Nation, Wolfsheim, Xero/G

So yes, my collection is building. Too bad I want more! Any help would be appreciated.

I don't recognize a lot of the names on your list, but my first thought after reading synthpop/electro pop was this group Junior Boys. I would recommend starting out with their first album, Last Exit although the other one, So This is Goodbye came out more recently so it might be cheaper. Both are very good.

Happy listening. I hope you can find more of what you are looking for.

Anybody else want to help out? Synth Pop gets kind of hard once you get past the major labels. There's good stuff out there, but also a bunch of kids with their Juno's releasing derivitive crap.

Heck, Wolf Parade won a Juno, and they're nothing but derivative copy-cats in a genre that's essentially a copy-cat of 80's post-/neo-punk.

Here's the equation: Old Staple + Extra aggression + Newer Synths = New Music?

Just listening: Dernière Volonté - Devant le Miroir
Martial Synth Pop from France. An Unique but accessible style. Realy worth a listen. This is the actual record, their earlier ones have been more martial, so this is a good start.

If you like Electroclash like Fischerspooner, then give
Pzychobitch - Electrolicious
a try. It's the lady in my avatar singing. Their earlier CDs have been more E.B.M. style, so maybe those are a bit to hard for you

If you like Future Pop like VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Covenant and Icon Of Coil, then also give Angel Theory a listen.

And give "Vive La Fête!" a chance. It's the ex bassist from dEUS with a blonde sexbomb as singer (which is surprisingly very talented). No fixed style, so it never gets boring. "Grand Prix", the last CD, is the best bet.

Cool. Rokysopp is one of those groups/artists I've know about, but never tried. I just ordered "Melody AM." Thanks a big one!

And yes, I've heard and love Ladytron. In fact, I kind of have a crush on Helen...shhhhhhhhhhh...don't tell my g.f.

Great thread-I love this genre as well.
I cannot stop listening to IAMX; reminds me so much of early Trent Reznor and Depeche Mode.
I havent seen you or anyone else mention LCD Soundsytem.
Not pure electro/pop by any sense, but definitely a sub genre with a rock twist.
Solid album-worth a listen.

I think this album is some of the best programmed glitch / synth-pop vocal stuff I've ever heard:

Kilowatts and Vanek - Rawq

Kilowatts has a pretty incredible understanding of synthesis. Check out the full version of "Silver Screen" from that album.

If you like slightly more underground stuff, I'll recommend a few "groups" that both have the same synth/programming guru behind them:

Iris and
The Alpha Conspiracy

Iris is vocal synth-pop in the vein of Depeche Mode while the Alpha Conspiracy is strictly instrumental. Andrew Sega's programming in both groups is pretty good. He's also a literal computer programmer for a living.

Much more recommendations where those came from. There's a whole underground "demoscene" that's filled to the brim with synth-pop.

I've said it before, and maybe I've been wrong before too, but can't imagine any big fan of Ladytron not also loving Solex, especially Low Kick and Hard Bop. One of the top CDs of the 2000's for lovers of inventive pop music.
