new reciever for my mom

ok, here's the thing; i need a speaker-amp or reciever for my mom; her needs are simple

1. optical input
2. just stereo speakers, but needs to have an A and B set; she has one downstairs and one up

oh, and the last desire: if possible, what would be nice is to have some sort of rf-remote so she can change the volume on the speakers downstairs even though the reciever is upstairs

needs decent sound quality, but nothing special; needs to be pretty cheap

thanks

edit: oh, and here cdplayer is this one
http://www.amazon.com/JVC-XV-M567GD-.../dp/B000051SEU

and now that i think of it i guess it doesn't need optical input on the reciever

and that rf-(or whatever) remote i was talking about: if not possible it's ok, but she just wants to be able to change volume on the reciever when on other part of house

if i need to buy a surround reciever, fine, i don't care, she'll never use a sub, or more than two channels though, never; she doesn't use headphones

gotta have atleast some sort of remote; she'll have it hooked up to only one thing: her dvdplayer, and use that for music and movies, music is more important

found this

what do you think?

price seems right; would actually like to spend less but, that seems unrealistic

For cheap speakers that sound great and especially considering you need to pairs I recommend the Best Buy Insignia speakers.

Oops I must of misread your original post sorry. Yea $49 is there regular price, I got mine on sale for $39 for the pair. There is an extensive thread on them here

As for the Receiver I had an Onkyo 2 channel receiver, I wish I would of kept it, it really was a clean and powerful receiver.

I just looked over at resellerratings.com and Ecost didn't get a very good review,so you may want to proceed with a little caution there.

i know all about ecost; they're a crappy company, but never had problems, wouldn't take a rebate from them though
