For your price range. I would definitely be looking at the Equation Audio RP-21.

sennheiser hd212 if you want subwoofery bass in a cheap can ($40 USD i think)
equation audio rp-21 if you're willing to spend $100 USD
beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80ohm if you're willing to go up to $140 USD

Yes I think the e500s are where it ends for universal iem bass. They are also very comfortable. I think that they can still be had from ebay for $260. Otherwise, check the for sale forums. Just beware of the cable problem.
