I'm tryingt o find a good way to clean connectors of all sorts, Optical connectors, banana plugs, coax, interconnects, etc etc. I thought it would be a good subject to bring since theres dust and dirt in every house hold settling on our stereo equipments and slowly decreasing efficiency of the product
Thanks.

Not sure about optical connections, but Caig's Pro Gold or Deoxit works great on metal ones.

I agree. But you can't just spray it on, you need to rub it around with the proper brushes (or just plug and unplug a few times while both parts are wet).

I don't really care for sprays either. I buy the little bottle of liquid with the brush. Foam Q-tips (the kind ladies use to apply make-up) also work great if a little extra elbow-grease is needed.

Cleaning Connectors

I do not have any ideas on optical connection cleaning. For other connectors I use the following products with great success and enjoyment. First, for cleaning, I use 99% alcohol or Caig Deoxit. Second, I used a metal polish either Flitz or Simichrome with a dremel tool(this can remove gold plating on connectors don't do it if you want to avoid removing the gold plating). Third, I clean off any remnants of the polish with alcohol . Finally, I apply the Quicksilver gold contact enhancer. I have tried Walkers' Extreme SST but I like the Quicksilver gold better.

I have found that this treatment practice works well with AC plugs, interconnects, speaker wire and fuse ends.

I am only interested in dramatic changes and these steps have provided a dramatic change.

YMMV

Vodka contains sugar and that's not a good thing. Try using clean alcohol next time, like cleaning alcohol - Ethanol etc.
The sugar will make it oxidize even faster next time.

The results of Deoxit is very dramatic when I first applied to all my tube amp socket, how often should I do it again?
