Buy one of both and try for yourself. There are plenty threads where this is discussed, I know because I've searched and read for myself.

As with the mod for the bowls where you wrap tape around the pads, the flat pads give a bassier sound than comfies(and I'll guess 414 pads) because the foam is denser which has been mentioned here previously...It's true I swear!

I haven't tried flats yet. I could try modding comfies. Maybe, after my senns pad gets here.

Just a question for the 414 mod;
is it a replacement for the grado pads, or do you simply put them over the pads?

I bought myself a pair of RS-80's (first actual higher-end headphones I've owned, minus my AKG 301's), and I the high ends are killing me (try listening to Feist's album The Reminder). Will the 414's or any kind of pad mod help with that?

probably not worth the 30 dollars plus shipping to the philippines just for my sr60s. I kind of remember my sr80s that came with flats as the stock pads a long time ago having adequate amounts of bass while my sr60s now with modded comfies lack bass.

The $35 price plus shipping(I don't know what Todd would charge) to the Philippines might not be worth the upgrade but at least you have a good idea about the difference.

I only bought the flats because I was determined to make my 325i work for me. I considered selling them at one point, even after trying new Headphile C-Pads(ouch$$$). I recently sold the C-Pads fairly cheap which was still plenty enough to buy the flats and comfies.

I think you take off the Grado pads. Replace them with the 414's.

This makes me want to upgrade to SR225. The yellow pads are Senns 414.

1. Use bowls and bend the headband quite a bit so that there is almost no pressure on the ears at all.

2. Wear them low and forward, with the top and back edges of the bowls sitting on the edges of the ears and not against the head (see #1 to make this comfortable) so that the drivers are slightly angled and firing from slightly below and forward of the ear canals.

(see http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/ and click on "tips and tricks")

3. Experience audio bliss, with non-shrill highs and an intimate but far from non-existent soundstage.

Since this time, I've compared the flats to the comfies with holes a few times and the flats just sound smoother yet bassier. I have a feeling that the extra bass is there due to the denser material that is used in the flats.
