Blah.. It's all in our head.. Thats BS.. If what he said was true, I would be saying the vibropods made a noticable differnce in my system, cause I told myself they would work before using them.... Guess what..I didn't hear a differnce at all..Believe me I wanted to too.. With my Zu power cable, I noticed a differnce right away when I replaced my stock PC.. Honestly, I didn't expect the improvment to be that noticable.. So the author has some homework to do.. I don't kid or lie to myself..

Exactly. And I'm not always looking for a new product (like an IC or PC) to even be better. Sometimes I just want to hear it. There have been several tweaks I've made that have actually sounded worse or did nothing and I took them off. There have been cables that I didn't think would/could sound better, and they Did!

A good example? We had a meet in Marin two months or so ago. In this meet, Ori from Oritek brought his X-2 IC's over to my rig and swapped out my $4000 (retail) virtual dynamics XLR revelations IC's. This was after he had already made a few snide comments regarding the VD cables. I didn't particularly believe or want to hear his cables were or could be better.

Were they better? No. Were they worse? No not really. Were they different? YES. They sounded great! Do I feel bad that I have these way expensive other cables? Nope. Sometimes there really are differences - one could argue EVERYTHING has a psychological aspect since everything must be filtered through our 5 Sense Modalities, which in turn are subject to manipulation by our minds.

However, after several years of living on this planet and in these bodies we pretty mcuh normalize out and get used to our particular psychology. I know my mind tweaks things. But I also know when its not JUST my mind.

I always get surprised. Often the tweaks that cost the least give the biggest improvements.
The 3rd biggest improvement I ever made didn't cost me anything. (disconnecting conductors from Valhalla interconnect)
The 2nd biggest improvement cost me $10. (XLR connectors)
The biggest improvement cost me $500. (ERS Paper)

The smallest improvement cost me the most, $5000! (Cary 303/300 transport)

If cables are placebo then everything is placebo.

I have been testing several interconnector cables including copper, silver and "hybrid" ones. One cable in particular is a very good way to point out differences between different interconnectors. That is Homegrown Audio's Silver Lace cable. The sound it delivers is quite unique especially among silver cables. If you can get your hands on Silver Lace give it a go. It will have it's own distinctive sound even not properly burned in. If you still claim that there is no difference, then I guess it's placebo due to not psychologically accepting the possibility that cables do make a difference.

The best way to test cables for me is to turn off the lights, lie back and listen for hours. Then swap a cable and listen for hours again. I don't need to listen to the same material but quite randomly anything. I will spot differences easily that way. ABX is a big no no for cable testing, it will not give you time to get accustomed properly and hence feel little difference if at all unless you know exactly what to focus on.
