Shure E-Series Intro Order?

Does anyone know the approximate release dates (month/year) the Shure E series were introduced?

If I'm not mistaken the E4 was actually released after E5?

So did they go from E3 to E5 on the numbering and then come back to E4? Kind of strange? I was just curious.

Yes, E4s came out late 04 - early 05, if I recall correctly. And yes, quite strange for Shure to skip a number, almost if they were planning on releasing the E4 during the time E5s came out.

...and I wonder too, why they introduced E4 as "gaming" IEM's? Isn't that a disservice? E3's maybe I could see but not E4. Not that they wouldn't sound good for gaming but they are definite audiophile IEM's. That's like negative marketing if you ask me.

Hmm, I would say it's due to the larger soundstage, bigger bass and overall fuller sound of the E4s. IMO E3 are too boring for everything.

Update on my opinion: I think that the bigger bass is lost in a sea of fluffy sounds. And the overall fuller sound is scarficied at teh pric eof a million grains. HAS ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING MORE GRAINY?! NOT ME! NOT JEFF!! not even CARLA! the girl i love.


Now back to headphones, i think now that hte E3 are hte most exciting headphoens ever! it was as if someone was holding a guy to my head, while i listened to music! This amount of excitement is quite for me, jeff and carla!
We all tried this headphone and it was just super!!!! Read my other posts regarding isobutane and frequency response.
