i honestly wouldnt know against the cx-400. but i have just gotten a new pair of vibe duos, and am just hoping that they've improved the cabling.

treble SQ still is kinda bad. im no purist at these things but i sure can tell whether it even attempts at producing mids and highs at all. i say, not much.

to all the vibe owners, sorry, but just had to say it. they're good, but not near the quality of what the other peeps here talk about. try some trance and r&b on it and you get your money's worth though. i'm still better off with the portapros..

I got some gun-metal Vibes the other day. First impressions were that the bass was terrific, but I quickly realised that was all there was and now I'm left wondering where all my treble has gone. For techno and metal the kick-drums are terrific but cymbals are soft and gutless. I can't return them to the Apple store unfortunately so I might cut my losses and give the ATH-CK7s a try instead.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I heard that the newer models are being made by a different company in China, and they are not manufactured with as good as quality as the first ones (which was the model that got all the rave reviews). I was wondering if anyone else had heard about this and knew anymore of it. I've been wanting to get a pair, but feel like i should look into this a bit more. Otherwise I'll just choose either the pk2 or ok3 (depending which is better w/o an amp)

Personally, I purchased these and thought the bass was way too heavy. And not good heavy either. It sounded like my buddies Honda with stock speakers in the front and 2 15" in the back. Couldn't hear a damn thing other than this loud farting sound. I'm sure the farting sound would have calmed down after I burned them in, but I was convinced no amount of burn in could fix these headphones. However, someone out there might like them...I just didn't.

I don't know if the original ones were awesome and the just switched to "made in China" or they changed the design or what, but I thought my EX70s sounded better.

Sad to hear even up till now they haven't reverted to the original gen 1 v-moda vibes sound.

I have several of them, but only loved my first pair, the gen 1, which died, but just got repaired, so i'm happy again =)
But i was really lusting after that midnight blue pair.
However, after hearing that they still suck, nah
