AAAARGH! "...missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" - Page 2

Oh I ran into this problem a couple years ago...it was bad. Somehow I manged to boot back into windows safe mode, however it ran like 10x slower. I at least backed up my important documents and reformatted.

Mine was due to HDD failure (Scans reported irrepairable disk errors, formating didn't help, I got it warranty replaced).

i'll try that next, when i get home. for some reason, it has stopped giving me access to the repair console, saying that my administrator password is wrong (i don't even have one!).

i'll call apple tech support... i've heard they're much less lousy than microsoft (or freakin' Gateway... from whom i'll NEVER buy anything again... but that's a different story).

hope you solve the problem, I've had my share if windows problems. I doubt it was openoffice that caused it though, I've used openoffice for a while no problem.
the only other thing i've downloaded recently is IE7...

i'm pretty sure it's not irreparable. if all else fails, i'm going to see if tech support here at work can slave my computer and purge any problems that way.

p.s. this is the first time i'm using head-fi's new multi-quote feature... totally bitchin!

Yeah if chkdsk doesn't work for you just run a repair install, that always fixes a corrupted file issue. Now if you somehow got a virus or a nasty malware, that's another issue.

cool! Multiquote sounds like an awesome feature. I like to quote multiple people all the time, but I end up doing it manually. I'm going to have to try it next time.
