Anyone know what the Senn HD-1000s are?

Sennheiser HD 1000 “CHARLESTON”

Here's a photo of it:

And a link (I believe in German):

It does look rather gaudy, doesn't it? But then again, Germans think David Hasselhoff is the epitome of cool....

Ah yes, "spatial klangbild" - one of the first things I look for in a good headphone

"Anyone know what the Senn HD-1000s are?"

chych,

I bet even Sennheiser don't know what they are. Did anyone notice how the seller conveniently lost box and manual?

Buying a fake Rolex is one thing. At least you get a replica of a brand name product. But buying a fake "what is it" from Taiwan and calling it Sennheiser? Pretty rare indeed. I wonder how the spell Sennheiser.

"Germans think David Hasselhoff is the epitome of cool...."

wasifazim,

We feel that he has a very nice singing voice. You just need Sennheiser HD-1000 headphones to reveal it.

Well, why don't we ask someone at Sennheiser?

Tomcat, I actually found that page and the pics independent of the seller's listing, so I'm inclined to believe that the HD-1000's exist(ed), and that he may actually have a pair (I've requested that he send me pics of his phones).

Damn those are nice looking. Like a Bill Gates edition of some AKG phone.

I don't think I'd wear em at school, but if I can get myself to wear grados, I can wear anything at home.

OK, I'll be the first to ask.

KR, what amp is that?
I believe that's the Zeus.
That's the $1600 Zeus tube headphone amp. A lot of us are still waiting for some brave soul to step up to the plate and give that bad boy a test run. It's not a new amp, it's been around for nearly a year or two now, and the one professional review on it was a rave one.
That amp was made for Grados. So it should (in theory) sound best with the SR-325, MS2, RS-1, MSP, HP-1, and HP-2.

Ok, I translate the description for you:

Exclusiver Spitzenkopfhörer, incl. Ständer

exclusive high-end headphone, including stand

Design erinnert an die Anfänge des Radiozeitalters

design reminds of the beginnings of the radio age

Kopfbügel aus Stahl, vergoldet, hoher Tragekomfort

[don't know the english word for Buegel - bent metal rods that hold the earcups together] made of steel, gold plated, high comfort

Offener, dynamischer HiFi-Stereo-Kopfhörer

open, dynamic hifi stereo headphone

Sehr natürliches, räumliches Klangbild

very natural, airy sound

Extrem leichte und impulstreue Aluminium-Kupfer Antriebsspulen

extremely light and impulse faithful aluminum-copper voice coils

und laseroptimierte Membranen

and laser optimezed diaphragmas

Starke Neodym-Eisen-Magnetsysteme

powerful neodym-iron magnets

Anschlußkabel aus sauerstofffreiem Kupfer (OFC)

cable made of oxygen-free copper

Vergoldete Klinkensteckerkombination (3,5/6,3mm)

gold plated jack-combo (1/8"&1/4")

Frequenzgang 18-25000Hz / 140Ohm

frequency range 18 - 25000 Hz / 140 Ohm

So altavista wasn't that bad...

I guess this has been a limited special model some years ago, when Sennheiser had a jubilee - and probably the shop that now sells it found some long forgotten units in a shelf while cleaning up or making inventory for its tax declaration...

Greetings from SF!
