Correct me if I'm wrong: "pleather" is what the Pros already come with. It sounds like Snacks has as a real leather headband. (That's available for the 2005 DT770 as a custom manufacture option but it's a different headband design.)

Are we talking headband or earpads? The headband is leather on all DT7/8/9 series cans prior to the 05 redo's, I'm pretty sure. I was talking earpads.

I'm talking headbands and I'm very pleased if the Pros are made of leather. I thought that it was artificial.

May I ask: where did you get a leather headband for the DT770 Pros?

The headpad shown in the pictures is the one that the DBs came with from Headphile. Leather or Pleather???
In a separate purchase, I ordered (2) sets of earpads (one extra for just in case) and (1) headpad from overseas -- shipping was equal to or more than what I paid in accessories. On the package, and on the website that I ordered from, (I no longer have the website) there are two types that you could order : pleather and leather, I opted for the latter.

On the package (I have one unopened remaining as well as a leather headpad) is reads: Original Accessories Beyerdynamic)))) Made in Germany. I asked the consultant that I dealt with, specifically, to give me leather earpads and headpad. These look and feel like leather, but I cannot tell if they are or not...Skylab's looks different than mine; however, there is a clear difference in price for leather vice pleather, but there is no distinction on the outside of the package, only the invoice.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Thanks for the complements cooperpwc

Edit: I tracked down the invoice. They were purchased from Thomann Musikhaus : info@thomann.de should get you a consultant. The headband says DT-770 pro the earpads say DT-770. Not that I want to, but I remember having to add things just to make it worthwhile to ship.

Snacks, I bought a pair of earpads like that, too. And they came packaged exactlly as yours did. I have them on my DT880's. I agree they seem like leather, but it's hard to tell. They are not, however, the very supple leather of the ones you get on "Manufacture" headphones, which is leather of a much higher quality. I sure wish that Beyer would make these available as an accessory. I wrote them an email to ask (to their Marketing VP), and he declined, saying they couldn't make money on them selling them seperately.

Snacks, thanks for the reply. I don't know if real leather even exists for the Pro headband. It certainly does exist for the 2005 headband and for the earpads. Of course, if one can't tell the difference, it probably doesn't matter.

Your Zebra really has me thinking. Zebra, cocobolo, bloodwood, koa... this is my conundrum....

Couldn't Resist...

Sold the V2 Cocobolo DB's, and bought these (Amboyna Burl V3's):

Sweet!
Love the two color wood. The wood on the headphones is again first rate. Hm, what does it remind me of.... almost like smoke rising up.
Actually reminds me of the wood used in some cars (jaguar, bmw, etc).
^_^

Do you mean in general, or this particular wood?

In general the wood improves the sound greatly over the stock plastic housing. Helps give much warmer, better, less recessed mids.

As for the Amboyna wood specifically, it's a little early for me to say, but it seems that this has little less bass than my Wenge V3's. But there is still PLENTY of bass

This particular set of Darth Beyers is the best balanced yet. But I have only 120 hours on them.

Koa with a nice touch on the stand. I've posted this pic before, but like showing them off.
