HELL IS HERE!!

THEY ARRIVED!

I installed the leather pads.. oh my GOD. It was a pain but once you get the trick it goes fine. I just had a one minute listen.. it is night and day with stock phones, now they burn! Jesus the bass I wasn't expecting this much! I will avoid commenting for now but I am really impressed.

Here is 2 teaser shots I took. One with my stock 770's (you can see my fan cooled LD2++ in the background) and the other one my Darth's sleeping on my Marantz amp!

Give it a while before you do anything strangely your ears will adjust!

Also try listening a few steps lower than your normal level till you get acustom

Slightly off topic, those fans you have on the side of the amp, do they actually work, if they do, how have you hooked them up to a power source?

I was expecting less difference, I was so wrong! The problem is... I want some Headphiled Grado's now, hehe.

Towert7: It is a good thing! Thank you for the suggestion, I extensively read your posts concerning that mod!

trose49: I already love the sound signature, just can't imagine when fully burned!

Hey DoubleEs,

Well the LD2++ is getting pretty hot to the touch without them. Basically the amplifier case is used as a heat sink. I noticed that the front panel was getting hot to the point the headphone plug was pretty warm. My concern was related to the fact it could probably cause damage to cable housing over time (I am a bit paranoid). So basically they are hooked to a power supply rated at 9v and 500 MA so they run slower/quieter and now the unit is totally cool to the touch. Running electronic with extra cooling always was good in my book?

You spared no expense with the headphone stand eh?

Does the LD2 need cooling that much?

Cool receiver...the wood color matches nice.

There's a very nice pair for sale in headphone section

BTW, thanks for explaining how the fans are connected. Because I couldn't see how it was connected, I thought you'd somehow managed to plugged it to a computer PC

GreatDane: Just a few pipes bought in a hardware store some isolating foam a piece of slate and a lot of fine metal wool sanding to achieve that chrome look that the camera can't really capture! Say 5-6 bucks, it has a utilitarian look. :P

DoubleEs: I seen those, the best looking Grado in my opinion, ebony and chocobolo sandwiched! Way too expensive for now at around 800$! :P
