trose49, I'm not sure how much money you have, but have you talked with larry about doing a special order for a little extra money? I'm not sure if Larry has access to and would be willing to, but some other highly curly woods include: Maple Burl big leaf, Maple Quilted, and Maple Curly. These woods may be more suited to a golden stain as opposed to birds eye which looks stunning in it's natural silver (IMO). Cocobolo *can* also be quite curly, but that depends on the stock of wood.

Either way, Larry does a great job with what he makes, and I would recommend them in a heart beat.

your velour pads look kind of messy... does this happen over time from regular use or did something happen to them?

If you're talking about my pictures, that's just the lighting. They were extreamly clean when I took those pictures.

Naturally though, if you use the velour pads, they will get oils from your body. Great thing with all the high end beyers, is you can get new pads directly from Beyerdynamic for a low price.

The Wenge pair - aren't these your first v.3's? Isn't that likely to be the difference, rather than the wood......or are you saying there is no difference between the versions......enquiring minds want to know.

Just saw this thread...

The only other Zebra Darth on head-fi, besides Wakerider's; this is a special grain normally used on deep dish Grado's; enjoy.

Zebra Darth/Black Copper 1.5m/Leather earpads & headband/mini adapter

Gah. Looking at all these sexi babies makes me sad. I still haven't gotten my Darth Lacewoods. T_T

TY Roastpuff - matching double stand w/lambskin is on the way. Make sure you do your Lacewood Darths justice and get the matching stand. Larry does great work and they sound amazing, especially when I had them hooked up to my XIN SMIII...!

Snacks those are BEAUTIFUL, man, congrats.

BushGuy, yes, absolutely, the fact that they are V3's may indeed account for the sonic difference I hear. The V3 Wenge pair are defintely better than the Coco V2's (now that the Wenge set is broken in). Further improvement in mids and treble. If there is anyone out there that still thinks Darth Beyers sound like stock DT770/80's, they are truly mistaken...

If you look on how the woods are priced, you can tell that way. But I'd ask larry first about Wenge.

Skylab, I obviously agree with the overall superiority of Darths - personally harboring a v.1 screened and a v.2 .......and soon, also venturing into v.3-land. So, naturally interested in any comments differentiating v.3 from v.2. ..............and for those interested in different wood choices - Larry is pricing both BirdsEye Maple and Lyptus the same as "Maple".

Mmm. The stand will have to wait for a bit, unfortunately - I've just committed ~800 USD for a TF10/Tomahawk/Custom IC setup. I hope my Darths sound just as good coming out of the Toma and the Headfive that I have...
