Thanks for the clarification. I did misunderstand this, and I'm actually mostly interested in electrostats.

[AK]Zip, those piccies would certainly be a worthy addition to the Official Ultrasone Appreciation Thread.

A couple more piccies I've just discovered over at Ultrasone France:

And what is it with the Japanese and their tissue boxes?

Any updates???

Very entertaining read; however, would like to read more impressions.
Especially 2500 vs. the R10/Qualia/Orpheus/Edition 9
If the 2500 (fully burned in) is 90% of an Edition 7, which outscored in all areas besides comfort, the SR-007, then I may be inclined to give it a test flight!

The 2500 is not 90% of the Edition 9, if this is true nobody will get the Edition 9 at 3 times the cost. The Edition 9's, is IMO superior in every aspect of the sound, details, bass, highs, and forwardness, even I feel the Ed9 to be more sensitive, as the drivers are closer, you need less power to drive them, also are IMO a lot more refined headphone...I feel it details wise at the same level of Qualia/Orpheus, with better bass extension...only complaint so far is the comfort, they are not as comfortable as those...

The pads are no interchangeable...the edition pads have a different grip, and the material is part fo the sound...

I've heard all "BIG" headphones without only the Sony Qualia.
Edition 7 is second best after the Orpheus HE90 headphones. But the Edition 7 has the COMFORT Problem.

Ultrasone Edition 7 vs. Ultrasone Proline 2500:
The Proline 2500 is - new out of the box - 40% of the Edition 7
The Proline 2500 is - with a full burn-in - 90% of the Edition 7
Wow, I may have to place a Proline 2500 on order
I believe another head-fier chose the 2500 over the Edition 9s due to comfort.
Are the earpads for the 2500 and Editions interchangeble?
Proline 2500 is 90% of the E7s after burn-in. Therefore based on that can it be said that for the scores below one can multiply the E7 score by 0.9 and compare it with the Omegas? If so the 255$ Proline 2500 best the Omega headphone by some margin. Actually except for comfort, bests it each each category. On the surface this seems a little much.

But one can only fantasize... Actually, I'm hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for the first impressions from today's meet in the Netherlands. There are going to be a huge number of cans, including the Proline 2500 and top-of-the-line cans like the HE60 and K1000!
