UPDATE:

Despite the manufacturer's best efforts (which included a replacement of all parts, including adding socketed TDA1543's), the DAC is still exhibiting faint pops and clicks on certain tracks on certain transports. Evidently the problem is inherent within the design of the D02 itself, and the reason most individuals never experienced this problem is because there was "synergy" between their transport and the D02. It is known that the Squeezebox functions perfectly with this DAC without producing any issues, and likely a number of other transports given that this problem was rarely mentioned among D02 owners.

I am offering the DAC as-is, completely rebuilt including socketed TDA1543 (which can be removed and sold for $60 if you are so inclined), for $180 shipped.

This is not a broken D02, it simply the way the D02 is; most people will have no problem with it, some will.

The D02 was sent away to one of this community's most respected amplifier manufacturers (the company wishes to remain anonymous) to be completely rebuilt, that is, every component on the DAC board has been completely replaced with new components. It would be fair to say that in terms of build quality, this is now the best D02 in existence and one of the few working examples remaining. In additional to the electronics repairs, the rebuild also included a tightening and reinforcing of the chassis and transformer.

There is a cosmetic issue with this DAC, the rear of the top cover panel has what I can only describe as an acid burn, which occurred at Ken Law's shop.

Price is SEE ABOVE shipped in the continental USA for the rebuilt D02.

I commissioned the rebuild/repair to make sure that there would be no problems with the D02 ever again, even if it would hit me at a huge loss. As noted, the Ken's soldering effort was not very good - this is a nonissue now, as it was rebuilt by a professional company with the proper tools.

The repairs will total / have totalled over $150. The DAC chips (8x TDA1543) and the receiver chips will be replaced, as well as all the SMT parts. The 'acid burns'/scratches are only on the back portion of the top panel, so it's not very evident (as you can see, the DAC looks flawless in the picture with the Squeezebox, which completely covers the scratches).

That's really at the discretion of the manufacturer performing the repairs. I can understand that this information would be valuable, but I have to respect the manufacturer's wishes. Also understand that this is more or less a favor of the manufacturer, it's not their product and they are under no obligation to service it, so we're lucky they we were willing to rebuild it.
