At 16 ohms of impedence, it could be a winner with portables.

I wonder if HR will also stock there E5 ear bud (which has an MSRP of $500).

Could it be a possible Ety killer ( I say that as I listen to my Etys)

Shure ripped of Etymotic (a company that I have a lot of respect/admiration for), so I wouldn't buy their products, but that's just me.

I wonder if the foams/ear pieces would fit the Etys? Since they come in three different sizes this might be a fix for those who love the Ety sound but not the fit.

I heard the E5 at the Boston stop of the World of Headphones tour -- a Shure rep came by and gave Tyll a free pair to try out. I listened to them for about half an hour, trying to make them sound good. It's really hard to get a good seal (if you don't do it just right, they can just fall out of your ears) and when you get about the best seal possible, the sound is really quite bad. I can't get into the particulars now since it's been a while since I heard them (what, six months now?). I just remember that they sounded quite bad compared to my beloved Ety ER-4S. Maybe in the same league as the Ety ER-6, which I don't like all that much.
