Not to say that a different pair of Tubes could not make make an improvement; but I don't think the originals are as bad as most people say.
Totally agree Magic77. I'll be putting the original philips back in soon and will just live with the slight high end harshness until I get the chance to audition some other Valves.

To my ears... the JJ ECC88's simply don't cut the sonic mustard for me. The stock philips are better for me (warts and all)

All the best

I discovered Jacintha and Nora Jones in the past year. Both are wonderful artists in my opinion; though I'll admit that Jacintha's lastest album isn't to my taste.

In terms of Rock'n'Roll I pretty much stick to the artists I enjoyed in the past. Though, again, I'll admit that I don't really like Peter Gabriel's new album.

I guess mine has been more a discovery of past artists that I hadn't listened to before. For example, I never liked Frank Sinatra in my younger days. Today, I enjoy his music. I've also started listening to classical composer's that I hadn't paid attention to previously - like Mahler.

I use the same resources to find music that I used to find equipment. There is a whole music forum on this web-site. I figured that if I was willing to risk thousands on a component I could risk $15 on CDs of artists I had never heard of.
