I remember reading a review in the paper about how it was supposedly the funniest movie ever only to find out at the end of the article the reviewer hadn't even seen the movie... funny... though what can you expect... that makes up 99% of the reviews here

Not yet, but planning on it either tonight or tomorrow.

I love Borat interview videos on youtube.

I saw the very first Matinee this afternoon. It has to be the funniest movie I've ever watched .... with a fight scene I won't soon forget.

It's definitely only for those with a liberal sense of humour however. There are a lot of hysterical lines which I'm sorry to say cannot be repeated here. Borat is a very funny, and very brave man.

Go see it.

I prefer Ali G to Borat, however Borat is still hilarious. However I think kids are going to ruin this and it will be quoted to death as it already is at my school. Most people don't even know who the hell Sasha Cohen is or what Da Ali G Show is.

I have a ticket to see it in about 5 hours. If Da Ali G Show's any indication of how good this movie is, I'll probably watch it again tomorrow.

so how can a British comedian keep this Kazakhstan accent wherever he goes?

Argh. I want to see this movie but I'm 16 and the rest of my friends are 17...Ack. I hate it when I miss out on the good stuff.

I saw it tonight. It's not for the faint of heart, but it's definitely funny.

Wait everyone!!! We cannot post impressions about Borat until Borat sees it himself! ...or, is it "until Borat sees himself?

Absolute hilarity. This was definately a lot more over the top than most of the Borat stuff on Da Ali G Show, but it is so funny and you have to hand it to Sasha Baron Cohen for how well he keeps in character and gives people the false sense of being able to say exactly how they feel...which in turn reveals a whole lot of racism and predjudice in the people he interacts with. I guess Borat brings out the true colors in a lot of folks, which is absolutely hilarious, and disappointing at the same time, but much more on the hilarious side.

Also, another interesting thing about the movie, is that in my hometown (NC) where I am this week, Borat was only playing in 2 theaters in the whole area. This is between Winston-Salem and Greensboro, NC, about 20 miles apart, with a ton of movie theaters in the two cities and surrounding areas. It seems that this movie is a bit too controversial for this area, as the movie is the biggest release of the weekend and its only in 2 of about 10 major theaters in the area. I wouldn't doubt this situation is the same for many areas of the south.

You really think those people are for real?

Thanks God he picked on a relatively "calm" country, who knows what would be happening in the world if it was ... I'm not going to name them on Head-Fi.

That movie was amazing. It was absolutely hilarious (the fight scene is quite possibly the greatest thing that has ever been filmed, better than Titanic, Crash and Forrest Gump combined), it was almost disturbingly insightful regarding prejudice, and overall was quite a good snapshot of America culture, for better or for worse. Honestly, before this character was created, did anyone know that Kazakhstan existed? But whether you want to delve deeper into the jokes or not is besides the point; it's the funniest movie I have ever seen, very very highly recommended.
