EDIT: Oh yeah, I should probably state here and now that I take no responsibility whatsoever for any harm that becomes your K1000s because you tried this mod. As per usual with mods, the implementation part of it is up to you.

They really look ok black compared to the usual "contraption on the head" look. Well done!

Thanks, I just send him PM. I hope he is fine.

I sold "Alavan" my RKV II in November, I was paid in advance but I never received any message from him.
He also has not had any activity since then, and did not respond to my PM I send recently. Is there a way to find out if he is OK. He is graduate student TA in Canada from China. I shipped it to China he went there for the Christmas Holidays.

Hey guys. I can't actually re-establish a link to the same photos, but I've got a nice digital SLR on loan, so when I get back to Athens where my K1000s are, I'll be happy to take some new pics for you guys, and put them in the OP. I have to tell you, both these headphones and the mod have stood the test of time for me; the powder coating looks as gorgeous as the day I first had it done. If anyone else is considering it, I still highly recommend it. Incidentally, I can't believe people are still looking at this thread!

As far as my absence, yeah, I know I suck. I just, frankly, have found the headphones I love, and don't really feel the need to explore anymore right now. Only things I haven't heard really are the SR-Ω and the Orpheus, and I couldn't in a million years afford them. So yeah. Sticking with what I've got for the foreseeable future. If any Atlantans/Athenians DO want to hear my K1000s, feel free to hit me up in a PM/e-mail. Always happy to give someone an opportunity to listen.

If you are in Atlanta, go out and get a dozen Oysters and a Bud and then a blackened redfish and send me the bill through paypal.
Its been 10 years since I had one and I missed so much.

As for the O2 you are not missing much.

Hahaha, I am in fact in Georgia (was in Atlanta at the time). Anyway guys, thanks for your patience; I should have new pics up this weekend. Maybe tonight if I get off my ass. Unfortunately kintsaki, I'm unworthy to enjoy your proposed partaking: I'm not a fan of seafood. I've tried to like it. I want to like it. I feel like I'd be a better person if I did. But I don't.

Smeggy, good choice on the powder coating; to this day I'm still glad I did it. Every time I put on/look at my K1000s I get to enjoy it.

krmathis, just curious, what are your current thoughts on the Camino/Firefox debate? Some girl on Mozillazine is keeping up your tradition and your FF icon, and I thought of you the other day. I must guiltily admit that Safari 4 has whisked me away from the Mozilla camp. I still use Camino sometimes for nostalgia, but the new Javascript engine's just making things blazing fast generally. And though I missed the customizability at first, Glims kicks enough ass to make up for the stuff it doesn't have on its own.

Wow man, you're actually still alive. There's a meet going down next Saturday (the 25th) if you want to make the trip back into ATL to show off your awesome black K1000. Most of the people from back when have kinda drifted off too, but it'd still be pretty fun.

Well, I am still a faithful Camino user (my own trunk builds).
Never looked back to Firefox since I switched in July 2005. On Mac that is, since I still use Firefox on MS Windows in the lack of something "better".

Sorry I couldn't make it dude, I'd really have loved to, but I had to cover and photograph THREE different events yesterday. Maybe next time I'll be able to make it. I'll probably be in Atlanta for the near future, at least. Hope the meet was great!

And Kai, I have to say, after being a LONG-running faithful Camino user, Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4.0 are worth a re-examination. Particularly with extensions for Firefox and Glims for Safari. Gives you everything feature-wise I could get out of Camino, but just go a LOT faster. I do suspect/hope Camino might catch up with the javascript engine someday, but for now it's lagging way behind on page rendering. My current personal preference is Safari 4.0 because of Cocoa, but FF 3.5 is an excellent choice as well IMO.
