Blacked out K1000: finally, a good looking mod. (56k warning!)

So I took my K1000 grilles down to a local powder coating shop the other day, and got them done in black. I LOVED the results; they were a bit of a pain to put back on because of the slight increase in size, and the fact that the grilles are a bit tougher now (less malleable), but it was SO worth it. Here's why:

I got to see these first hand earlier today. Let me tell you, they look good in the picture, but they look ten times better in person! I knew something was different about them, but it took a few moments for me to realize what it was because it looks like it was designed to look that way. Looks more stock than stock!

Now all you have to do is black out the red portion, and they shall truly become Darth K1000's!

Well done, dude.
You should send the pic to AKG and tell them if they ever put out a second generation ear-speaker to use this color scheme. The orange-red bar does not look riduculous anymore.

the red band is the lightsaber. On a side note, I've been debating doing the bar in white instead of red. Any thoughts? I think the red looks much better now than it did before; not so sure if I want to white it out anymore.

that's hot.

i agree w/ rocketpilot. put some black heat shrink tubing over the red headband to really darth it up. that would look uber-hot!!
