pabbi1 - Have you received your McAlister EA-6 amp yet? If yes, then how does it sound?

Any updates on the Woo GES? Thanks..


Also, what is the EA-6? I only see the EA-1 and EA-4 listed on the website.

I have the EA-4, and use it daily. It's a good amp for my HE90, but not as good as an HEV90. Peter McAlister has now developed a totally new electrostat amp., that should perform substantially better that the EA-1/4 amps, and also costs substantially more. Only Pabbit1 has one so far, and I look forward to his comments regarding its performance. As for the Woo electrostat amp., I have one on order, and was told by Mr. Wu a couple of weeks ago, that it'll be completed in about five weeks. The thing that I'm really looking forward to is to compare the Woo amp's performance to that of my McAlister EA-4. Since I previously carefully compared the performance of an HEV90 to that of the EA-4, and since I remember the degree of improvement obtained with the HEV90, I'll be listening for this improvement when switching from the EA-4 to the Woo amp. I'll assume (for now) that the Woo amp. performs nearly as well as the HEV90, if substantial improvement is apparent between the EA-4 and the Woo amp.

Cool, thanks a lot and please keep us updated. I'm thinking about going electrostatic and these are the amps I'm most interested in (tubes and fairly priced).

I am glad to see movement on this Amp. If (a big IF) I get my finances in order soon (need to stay away from the Single Malt Scotch sales for a while), I will be looking to move on a black one to push my O2's. I will be very much looking forward to any reviews.

Bump. I'm getting one in the same configuration as mikeg, in black. So HE90 plug for the HE90, and Stax plug for the SR-Omega 1.

Should be interesting, none-the-less! Expected lead time is 6 weeks.

Arg, I knew starting this thread would drive me crazy......

my STAX 006t is just leaving my O2's just a little bit short. And I wanted to pull the trigger on the Woo a while ago. But I held off a bit until I can stablize my cash.

But with people ordering and not getting any impressions until the future, makes me want to pull the trigger.

There will be a mini meet around May 5th at my place with HE90, Omega II, Omega 1, and Stax 007t / Woo GES (among other things), so you may wish to wait until then for impressions.

A few minutes ago I put the deposit down on my Woo GES, so it's set in stone now.

Per my request, Jack Wu is taking my GES amp. to the National Meet in San Jose, before he sends it to me. I therefore expect some attendees to listen to it with HE90 and Stax phones, and to read their comments shortly.

mikey, why not go for the stax 007t amp? what makes you think that the woo will surpass it?

i eagerly await impressions from both these meets. Adrian, what are you driving your 'stats with now, or are they on holiday until the amp arrives? do you have any impressions yet to share about the O1s?
