HiFiMAN HE400
By now I think most of us are familiar with the history behind the HiFiMAN HE-series headphones. What started with a single model has grown into a full...
I was in Japan and was looking at headphones to buy. I had a cheap budget of about 4000 yen or circa $40. I bought this headphone because it was on sale for $30 and was very good looking. It was...
Simply put, these headphones are one the best values in the audio world. They've praised time after time, and I now know why. These are my 2nd pair of quality grade headphones (after the V6),...
Hi Guys,
this is my second review on a new earphone, just in time that my friend is looking for a good earphone, I was recommend him to look for this Final Audio Design brand.

Well, I'll be happy to take one for the team. If anyone wants to send me their ZD, I've got a Supra XLR and MPX3 Slam currently on hand for comparison. A sacrifice but I guess I can help out this one time.

Send that MPX3 Slam my way. So I can do the pregame with an EC2A3 match up. I'll even cover the cost of shipping.
The base MPX3 SLAM is $1199. The all out maxxed SLAM SE is $2199 but includes a stepped attenuator, blackgate cathode caps and an upgraded high voltage power supply .... thats essentially a Supra power supply minus the huge resevoir caps. I also believe a high/ low voltage switch is now standard. I had mine built with the normal volume pot and cathode caps which dropped the price to around $1775. If the Zana is going to $1990 as reported the SLAM SE can be slightly more or slightly less expensive .... and the SLAM SE includes tubes.
thanks for the price reply.
Isn't the 5687 probably the most common tube used in the slam and it's usually priced under $4.00 a tube? I wish I could hear one of those MPX3 SLAMs.

Most of the good 5687s are in the $15-20 range these days and rising.

I just bought some 5687's for $6.10 on sale at AES. But I think they are sold out now except for the 5687wb's. The 6bl7gta's run $7-8 each almost anywhere. I bought some the other day for $5 each .... nice black plates too. I always seem to prefer blackplates regardless of the tube.
Speaking of tubes 909, does your 2a3 use a 6sl7? If so, which ones have you tried and liked? BTW, I was looking at an old Glass Audio mag. and saw a Moth ad intro'ing the Si2a3.
