M-Audio Transit & Static/popping sound...Please Help!

Okay, I got my Transit today, and I have it running on ASIO mode on Foobar.

My problem is that whenever I'm playing music, if someone messages me thru messengers like MSN, there will be this REALLY annoying static/popping sound that comes out....and it really, really annoys me..

To clarify on this problem, if you use somekind of messenger, it'll give out somekind of notification sound that will tell you that a message has arrived.
The static/popping sound comes out along with that original notification sound....

Can somebody help me out?

EDIT : looks like there are options for M-Audio Transit Output...16bit/48khz, 24bit/48khz, and 24bit/96khz...

but only 16bit/48khz is working, and when I try to use other output options, my foobar will give out error message....what's wrong with this?

Weird.

I would try disabling all your sounds in MSN Messenger. Is this the only program causing this? Can you hear the message notification sound mixed with static and popping, or do you just hear static and popping? Does this only happen when you're playing music through ASIO in Foobar? Does it happen when you're NOT using ASIO in Foobar, or other media players (give WMP a try and see if the same problem occurs)?

Nothing is wrong. Your music is 16-bit/44.1Khz, and when you're Transit is in 24/96Khz it ONLY accepts signals with a frequency in the range the Transit is set to (I forget the range, but it's like 8xKhz-96Khz at 24-bit). You should be able to get 24-bit/44.1Khz working simply by making Foobar output in 24-bits, but it won't "add" anything to the sound since the music you're listening to is 16-bits. Using 24-bits is only useful if you have a lot of processing going on in your DSP chain.

If you were so inclined you could use the Transit's 96Khz setting, but you'd have to resample all of your audio, which wouldn't make it sound any better (in fact it might sound worse, depending on the quality of the resampler), and it will bog down your processor.

You are having system priority issues and drop-outs due to this.

Do ALL of the things listed on my webpage under Computer Audio - recommended configuration - Ticks and Pops, and this will stop:

Use ASIO, set latency to very high in Transit CP and to max in Foobar, mute all audio outputs/inputs in contol panel, except master volume (Speaker) and check "Do not map through this device" in Control panel Audio/Hardware/Properties.
