I am often amazed at how many audiophiles use fancy cables without doing basic contact maintainance. I knew about expensive cables way before I realized the importance of contact maintainance. This is especially bad because many hi-end cables have death-grip connectors and cause scratches left and right. And the thin gold plating gets scratched away so easily. In pro-audio most connectors are nickel plated and much more resistant to scratching, I think.
I recently caught and caged an angel and beat it frequently. Using it's tears to hyper-polish and ultra-clean my points of contact I achieve a level of detail not previously possible. If the connectors are especially dirty I take a razor to the angels wrist for a more potent substance.
I too agree that most audiophiles should do more maintenance. When was the last time you asked your amp how it felt? Since doing psychodynamic therapy with my amp, it has been sounding much better. Amazing what a little bit of time and effort can do. ;).
For the benefit of other head-fiers I am selling the tears and blood in 10ml phials. Since these angels are extremely rare it is a touch pricey ( I believe I have the only known angel, which makes my product proprietary and unique), but far worth it.
