Furman dominates the pro audio market AFAIK, and after getting their stuff and look back on audiophile company conditioners and really feel the latter offerings are mostly hype.
I have Furman's Power Factor Pro. At the electronics level, it reduces AC line noise, stores energy to provide high instant current, lowers power factor and provides surge protection. At the sonic level, it really reduces noise and makes treble smoother. I plugged a $40 Memorex DVD palyer from Target into it and got surprised by how close it sounds to my DAC1.
I once took the conditioner to my laboratory and plugged a $4k scientific instrument amplifer into it and saw its noise go down on the oscilloscope--amazing. This conditioner really works.

Last night, I was kinda bored so I was digging around this area of Head-fi. Well, I'm really glad I read up on this thread last night because tonight I stopped by the local Guitar Center and they had the Furman M-8 for $39.99!! So it was a no-brainer for me and I bought one. I got home a little while ago and plugged my entire headphone system into it and am pleased with the results. There definitely is a slight improvement in sound. Also the peace of mind is a good thing too.

One vote for the (admittedly over-the-$100 mark) Shunyata Hydra 2. I think they go for about $500 now...but still...

I have a Hydra-8 and it is glorious. Save your dollars for the Hydra!
