Anyone ever heard of Utah Drivers?

Just picked up a bunch of stuff from Cragslist and there are some nasty looking cabinets that I assume are DIY with Utah drivers in them. Figure I'd ask if they're worth keeping.

htese really seem to be DIY. The speaker cable is crap at best and the crossovers are maybe 20 cents. THe cabinets are most defintely homemade and that hole/port kills me! The drivers are in great condition and I was just wondering if the whole thing is dumpster food or if I should pull the drivers out and build a new cabinet?

I got a sweet Rotel reciever with the package for 10 bucks. Very very happy with my first craigslist find!

Thanks.

But, are they trash?

Should I keep them or throw them away?

Those don't look DIY to me. The wire, crossover, port, and construction look typical of commercial speakers circa 1970.

Yikes, if this isn't diy, then it's pretty shoddy work.

I'll give them a listen later today, and if they don't blow me away, I'll send them to the Salvation Army.

Give them some burn in. I have a pair of speakers from the same era with a little better construction (but the same "hole"-style port) and an odd tweeter, and they're actually pretty good. They wouldn't satisfy the metal-dome tweeter crispness crowd, the bass is loose, and there is a dip in the midrange, but they're more than listenable.
