Part Placebo, Part Reality = Audiophile?

Placebo is my friend I am so dazed with listening to music via my rig now that I can't tell which is which. 98% of the time I thoroughly enjoyed the music my rigs churned out, but those odd 2% I find the very same rig did not worth all the $ I splashed in them, so it has to be that I am engulfed in some sort of Placebo potpourri no? hahahaha

I think one chooses to be purely technical in every aspect resisting Placebo, they would have trancend into the Sonic Scientist mold and no longer an Audiophile......

And Placebo is EXPENSIVE

(prepares Flame Retardent Suit On.......)

Nah. Not necessarily placebo:

How're your sinuses & ears? What's your stress level at any given moment? How 'bout the atmospheric pressure -- low in stormy weather, high in fair weather...? What's your emotional state/mood? Experiencing listening fatigue? Got a tummy ache? Slept enuf or not enuf? What's your blood alcohol level now -- last night -- etc., etc. There's a lot of stuff that affects changes in hearing and perception.

Makes perfect sense. The body decides what's good and what's not good.

I find that fatigue due to tiredness results in music that sounds "worse" than other days.
Do you find that people who aren't into the whole amp thing asking you if it sounds dramatically better than without amps? Then you really think for a while and think, "was it worth all those thousands?". Of course the answer is yes.

Edit:
Sorry for the weird grammar, it's late at night.

How true. Yesterday I arrived home from the office and was absolutely exhausted. Plugged my rig on and dang for the next 1 hour I find no joy listening to them. my mind could not focus on the songs. Unplug them off. have a quick nap and supper and walla! music haven is back.
