RCA to XLR?

Thread Starter
Is there any problems if I order a RCA to XLR cable to go from a RCA source into a XLR input on an amp? My speaker intergrated amp has 2 pairs of rca inputs (which are being used) and one pair of balanced XLR which are free, so since I will be adding a turntable this week, can I connect from the phono preamps RCA outs into the XLR inputs on my amp? Any impedence problems - 75/110? Would this work, or do I need a RCA switch box?

analog rcas aren't 75ohm, and analog xlrs aren't 110ohm. You're confusing digital impedance loads with analog IO. What you have to be concerned about is matching levels between consumer and pro levels. And chances are your gear isn't really expecting pro levels on the xlr inputs and you'll be fine.
