bad optical cable?

i just got a new optical cable and when i try to hook it up to my entech numbercruncher, the data locked led does not come on. when i plug one end into my cd player, the red light at the other end is very dim. i should point out that my other optical cable works fine. thanks.

So one optical cable works fine and the other doesn't?

Sounds bad to me. It's pretty clear cut really.

dimmer than the original cable?
