Best quantity + quantity of bass from 3 phones:

*Title should read quality and quantity*

K-81 DJ
W-1000
DT770/80 Pro

I am wondering what has the most slam, quality of bass, etc. I currently have HD650, and what to expand my collection, especially w/ a new credit card coming my way
All running through ALAC + ipod 5g + sr71. I may also be getting a Earmax Pro or Singlepower amp by christmas.

Further, Im wondering how the Darth Beyer would compare to W-1000.

Its odd, I read a review where the author found the AT to have more AND better bass than the hd650, but read reviews saying basically the opposite on audiocubes.

The K-81DJ has bass, but it's a sloppy bass IMO. Others seem to like them though, but I can't help wonder what else they've heard before. I've never heard the W1000. Maybe get the 770/80s now and turn them over to Larry later or you can get them from his website cheap, but only if you order mods with purchase. I have my own Darth Beyers arriving in a couple weeks.

And....uh...watch out with that new credit card. "No cash, no toys" is my rule and keeps me out of trouble, especially here.

I know you're not here looking for financial advice, but unless your new cc limit is HUGE compared to what you want to buy, make sure you've got the cash to back it up... OTOH if it's a 0% introductory offer and you know you'll have the cash to pay it off before the interest starts building, GIVE'R!!!

My problem is I can't find any toys I want anymore that fit my pathetically low credit limit...

DT770/80, i tried to find cheaper options for a while, but there really is no substitute (except maybe the Grado PS-1, if you're willing to pay that much).

And yeah, careful with the CC...

About the Beyer 770/80: When purchasing a Darth Beyer from Headphile, I presume staying sealed/closed is the best option for keeping it a bass-centric 'phone? He has so many choices its killing me
I noticed he has the headphone deals page, and it looks like he has an open package if you don't already own these. That would probably be the simplest way to get them, rather than ship them to him to mod.

The DX1000 honestly has the best bass I've ever heard. Like I've said before, I call it a direct upgrade from the HD650. Check it out, if you can fit it into your budget!

Also, I've owned the SR-71, and I can see it matching the DX1000's sound signature very well.

I wouldn't recommend putting this one on the card, though.

The DT770/80 is a serious bass monster. I have a pair on the way, but for my tastes I intend to use it only for gaming and movies.
