Looking for spades, does material make SQ difference?

hi, ive decided to terminate my speaker wire with spades just to make it easier to connect, i am expecting a slight degidation in sound quality, should i stay away from any spades in particular? should i consider banana plugs?

I find banana plugs easier to dis-/connect.

This is my opinion of it all "in theory"

Direct connect is better than spades. spades is beter than banana (in sound quality)

Material does matter. Silver>copper>brass

this is all just in theory though. Maybe with a DBT it would make no difference, but we can discuss that in this section anyway

It all makes "a difference," but quite honestly, have you looked at those POS binding posts your amp output posts and speaker posts sport?

Even the "good" quality ones are usually made of chunks of poor-conducting alloys just plated with gold, and this will pretty much mask any improvement from better spades/bananas, etc. If it will make you feel better, the copper Audioquest spades or Eichmann "bayonet" banana's are good connectors.

A significant improvement can be had if you simultaneously change binding posts to likes of Eichmann "cablepods" and bananas to Eichmann bayonets, but it IS a pain.

Some extreme DIY'ers simply take out all binding posts/connectors and make wire-to-wire connections only.
