next year there might be a hd700 though. Senneheiser is allready working a couple of years o the new headphone, i think the new one will be released next year. hd650 is a fantastic headphone for clasical music. Also electrostaic headphones are really good for classical...but the good ones are expensive and need good expensive amps.

I would say, start with the hd650-xcanv3 combo and you're set for the time being. Then later you can look around for eventually better systems, if you're not satisfied.
Since i am using UE10pro, I am worry about HD650 will lost some detail compare to UE. I wish I can try HD650 before I get it, even though it costs fair price around $320.

I don't read reviews, I just use my golden ears.

And they tell me Nordost does it for 1/3 of the cost of a good siltech cable.

And in a review, the reviewer uses his golden ears. And probably an even better, more resolving system as well.

Not everybody can review 40.000 dollars of cables...

Don't you have 30 day guarantee, most people test a phone and send it back within that period.

Te more decent and preferable way would be to goto a audioshop and listen to the phone there!

Since I am new in Headfi. So I haven't found any high-end headphone store in Boston area. There is one Hi-Fi store very close to my house but they only have few brand. The sales told me they have someone work ther parttime is a expert on Headfi;so i am waiting for them to call me and i can talk him for further advise. Base on my X-can V2, is it good enough to drive Grado GS1000 ? I want to try that one with my x-can for next couple months.

Don't think so...xcan v3 is a high impedance amp, so for hd650 etc. grado has only 32 ohms, hd650 has 300ohm! Don't think the synergy would be as good.

Since I just bought this X-can V2 about a month ago, I dont want to upgrade to a next level that quick and havent tried out all my records yet. The reason of purchasing a new headphone, I want to try what's difference between IEM and a good headphone. I need to look for phone that the sound quality can beat my UE10pro or equal coz I dont want to spend money on a headphone and the sound get downgrade. Thankyou!!

Hi, I have the X-Can V3 modified by PinkFloyd. I also have the Little Pinkie power supply made by PinkFloyd. This amp drives any of the following cans beautifully: Senn HD600, AKG K340 and K701, Beyer 2005 DT990, and Grado RS-1. I am very happy with the way it performs and it would be great if you could listen to one with your cans so you could determine if it is for you or not.

I also have an stock X-Can V2 which is surprising the heck out of me on how nicely it drives my K701 and DT990.

So in closing I think you will do fine with either one. If you wan to explore a different altenative think about the Heed CanAmp. IMO it is better sonically and you may prefer it.
