electro-voice speakers?

found these locally and they look kinda cool


curious if anyone has heard anything about this brand, accoring to the seller they where designed for for P.A. (public address) use so i'm not sure how thye would sound for music

Yup, EV is a well-established brand in the musician/pro audio market. However, iirc, their big woofers were also quite popular for hifi horn speaker constructions some years ago...

Electrostatics or ribbons?. Interesting!. How do they sound?

I think those are late 50s PA speakers designed for speakers at microphones. They would sound like crap with music- all midrange.

that's what i figured but figured i'd ask around if anyone had heard em, figured it may have been a diamond in the rough (like my mirage bookshelves and yamah integrated amp for $40 )

Hey,
There's some of those in my Mom's church. They were probably made in Buchanan, MI. One of EV's bigger plants was there until they closed it down a couple years back.
