hakko vs quakko ? - Page 2

I went ahead and order the wp25 from mouser because I had to order a bunch of stuff from them anyway. I tried to find a hakko dash but I couldn't find one anywhere (inluding outpost.com). My plan is to use it for this project and try to get the wife convinced to get me a station for christmas.

Btw I looked at the antex pens and while I am sure they are great soldiering pens they just look uncomfortable as heck.

This will happen with ALL soldering irons; quality of tip may change the speed of decay, however.

Nope. I was using 4% silver solder from Homegrown Audio. Bought if before all the ROHS stuff. The tip was only a couple of weeks old and cleaned all the time.

This was the Hakko Dash for anyone else interested.

I think it goes by the N454 model more often than just "Dash"

That Taiyo Electrics GOOT RX-802 is a beaut! Unfortunately it's expensive...found only 1 place in the US that carried it but they were asking $385 on sale...way toooo much for the occassioanl hobbyist solderer!
