I'll try to talk to some guys here in Romania and perhaps one of them will let me audition his Rockna. This might not happen in the very near future, though. Also, I have a Mini-Dac and I hope I'll get to hear the Lavry soon, so I (will) have a good base of comparison. The Rockna is pretty highly regarded on the Romanian audiophile forum, btw.

I made an order for this on friday. Hope to get my zapfiltered Zhalou up and running soon so i can compare the two. The best will be used on my speaker rig and the other with my headphones.

Have you received yours yet? I ordered one at the end of September and paid via PayPal having seen this thread and it still hasn't arrived. I send emails every 2-3 weeks and have been given every excuse under the sun from upgrades to the OS to moving premises for the failure to deliver. I am beginning to think that that this is just a scam.

i would strongly recommend you ask for your money back and see what kind of response you get. that'll give you a good clue if this is a scam or not. not seeing anything for over 3 months is ridiculous no matter what kind of excuses they give you.

hope all turns out okay.

I'm an active member on romanian audiophile forum, and its not a scam. The product is for real, and its on the market. Maybe the pacience will pay off.

I ordered my RD-2 in late November and did´nt get any reply from the company at all. I was getting nervous after 2 weeks, because the owner of their PayPal account was located in Switzerland and the company itself in Romania. To cut a longer story short, I emailed them several times and even set them dead lines and asked to refund my money - they always came up with excuses and another shipping date. Having in mind what happend with Ken Law, I finally informed Paypal. Then, last week I received my RD 2.
It is indeed quite a nice unit and seems to have undergone some revisions, beause the power cord is now detachable.

This thread sparked my curiosity so I went and searched the Romanian forum. It looks like the Rockna DAC is made by one guy, everything is done manually.
Also some posts say that he is trying hard to improve the DAC and this could well be the reason for your delay. Someone even said he'd been waiting for more that two months.

Hi, yes, i received my unit yesterday, over two months (nov 10) since i ordered
I went through the same doubts as some of the guys here. They said the main reason for the delay was that they was waiting for new cases. The DAC itself was ready after two weeks. Recently they have been very fast responding to my emails, but that has not always been the case. I asked for a refund two times earlier without a response.

First impressions of the DAC, it`s way smaller and lighter than i imagined, and now comes with detachable power cord.

Its currently burning in on my speaker system so its too early to say anything about the sound. First impressions are good. A bit more forward and compressed compared to my Electrocompaniet ECD1, but a lot can change during burn-in.

Nice, i guess they are now shipping all the dacs from the last 2+ months. I`m starting to really like the sound of this dac, looking forward to seeing other peoples impressions.

I wish i could translate the thread from the romanian forum, looks like a lot of info there.

I'm glad things are going back to normal. The manufacturer didn't answer my question on the Romanian forum (I hadn't asked him personally, anyway), but a couple of guys mentioned something about some design updates and stuff like that. Regarding the translation, I could help here if we weren't talking about a 26 pages thread. I've just read the last 5 or 6 pages and the information is not very clear because there is also a kit version that can be assembled better or worse, hence some problems a buyer had with his dac and it was unclear if it was because of a faulty design or because of his inappropriate diy work etc.etc. In the end, the manufacturer repaired and upgraded the dac and everybody lived happily ever after. A few scattered ideas I colected:
- it is recommended to use a good quality transport because the inputs are not transformer coupled (I hope I didn't get it wrong )
- somebody said some condensers inside are getting hot and a good ventilation would be mandatory - I don't know if his dac is the revised version or not
- some guys said the dac sometimes stops working when switching from coaxial to optical or the other way around and has to be reset by turning it off. Could be still a problem or could have been addressed by the recent revision, I don't know.
- everybody seems very impressed by the sound

Received my DAC on Monday and have had it running in for 48 hours.

I have listened to it for the first time today. It has a very even-handed sound. The only criticism at this stage would be a slight sharpness on vocal sybillance. Hopefully this will disappear over time. I have two other DACs [Beresford 7510 MKII and Audiosector NOS DAC Premium] and the Rockna is significantly better than both in almost every aspect even at this early stage.

If they can sort out their delivery issues, then I think that they deserve to get a number of sales.
