I am enjoying my HD650's quite a bit too from Amazon! driven just from udac2.

Still can't wait for my ra1 clone amp to get here.

And then eventually, soon or maybe down the road, O2+ODAC combo.

I'll probably be selling off my DT990s now. Crap. biggrin.gif
Curious to hear how it sounds driven with the Schiit Magni/Modi combo I should have by the end of next week. BWA-HA-HA-HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

I think there's 3 threads now where people are wondering what their headphone sounds like with the Magni. biggrin.gif It was tempting to buy one for a backup amp, but must resist the temptation.

I've been testing all sort of cables with my HD-650 and it seems like stock is best to my ears..go figure. I think Sennheiser knows what they're doing. At least with the HD-650 cable! It might not make it sound super crystal clear and extremely detailed, but everything is so full sounding. Never ever thin or lacking in any area.

I think i've had my new 650 on my head more than any other headphone in the last year except for one.

I know many will cringe at this comment, but with the HD-650 I can easily detect any little change in my setup. Can't complain about that. I watched the Dark Knight Rises last night and was impressed with what the 650 was capable of. That soundtrack is too muffled sounding though. I guess having my Blu-Ray player connected to my amp doesn't help much. I really need to give this 650 a review. I'm afraid it'll be quite off the usual consensus and how I heard it previous. Don't know why.

I don't know if i'd ever pay $500 for it though..maybe $400.

I'm with ya there. Grabbed mine for $329 with Amazon's $50 gift card deal and thirty bucks worth of Discover card cash back when they briefly had it priced at $409.99. That made me quite happy. wink.gif

My way of rationalizing the purchase (which I also don't need) was this - it's two hundred bucks. If it doesn't work for me I sell the pair for a 15-20% loss and be thankful for the opportunity to audition a sweet little piece of kit in my rig. Or, I end up loving it and sell off my CIAudio gear and Asgard and come out ahead. Or I love the Magni and sell the Asgard. Or I love the Modi and sell the VDA-1/VAC-1 and keep the Asgard. In other words, I don't see a whole lot of risk here. biggrin.gif

Never (that I'm aware of anyway). Read my post more carefully.

That was after the gift card and his credit card rewards. $409.99 was the purchase price.
