Sennheiser HD650 Impressions Thread - Page 58

My first post here was to buy a used pair, which will be arriving soon - me too in the club !
I paid £140, which also sounds good to me !

The first thing you have to do when you get the HD650's is to check fitment and bend the metal tabs is needed. This will minimize the chances of the center plastic section from cracking from over-tightening your head. lol

What genres of music do you feel really brings the HD650 to shine the best?

I've had the HD650s a year now and they have beat about anything else I've tried, what about the HD-800 are they really a $1k improvement?

I have both and I prefer my HD650 with Equinox cable in a heartbeat.

I wonder whether you guys have experience apply SilClear Contact Enhancer to the Senn HD650 cable. I have a jar of that and have concern applying it to the Equinox Cable.

OutdoorXplorer, what is your concern? It will improve the sound I apply it to the 1/4 jack and also the spade connector to the ear cups I am using cardas and the improvement is noticeable.

IF you don like what you hear after applying, can alwyas wipe if off

Thanks. How did you apply on the 1/4 jack? I am concern of contact over the + / - / ground points. Any risk of shorting?
Don worry about the short on the 1/4 jack. I always coat the entire plug with no issues. Just ensure you apply a thin layer will do. The short is more applicable for RCA male plugs.

if you have any portable rigs, it will also improve the sound a lot if you apply to the plugs. The only one which i don find / hear any improvement is the LOD connector and USB plugs. Anyway, thats just for me

Thanks again. I did as told and WOW... immediate improvement is heard on clarity, transparency and better high/low frequency control. I expect to hear further improvement as I remember SilClear needs approx 4 ~ 10 hours to settle in.

It does not stop there. Any plugs you have in your RIGs, home theatre, power plugs all will benefit from the silclear.
