Actually think you missed it! hehe

Rushnerd was referring to the fact that you called them 6500, you added an extra zero.

But glad to hear you love them with the Lyr.   I too have the Bifrost but have an Asgard.  I will be adding a Tube amp shortly, but I was leaning toward WooAudio.

I present the HD6500 from  Illumina® "It will blow you away!"

BAHAHAHA

Don't forget the HD6500 by Epson.  I hear it pairs amazingly with the Bifrost-Lyr combination to deliver fantastic surround sound.

I'll be adding a tube amp as well, but I'm going for the crack! biggrin.gif

Two things turn me off from the crack: the soldering and the look.

I will be getting a Lyr for it at some point though.

Thanks!  I use LDMKIV (Russian 6H30 and Mullard 8100) as well and for the life of me, I think it was designed with the HD-650 in mind!  Amazing impact and clarity when called for, tone is excellent, soundstage too not to mention three gain settings (3,5,and 10).  I use 5 on mine and plenty.  Also, I tried DAC --->Transformer coupled linestage ---> LD amp and at X3 gain, it sounds great!

I really need to get some new tubes for mine. I am still using the original "cheap" Chinese tubes. I said I was going to do this as soon as I got it, well its 7 months later and I still have the originals. rolleyes.gif

I love the look. You can totally make it look as you want, I stained the wood etc, looks great!

pics please...

Question, if I get the Lyr I still need a DAC. Can I use the Lyr with my E17? And if so, what cables do I need to hook all of this up? The E17 would just connect via USB, and what cable would go into the e17 to connect to the lyr?

Has anyone tried this?

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to get the bifrost in a month. Maybe I should just wait and buy them both at once. Apart of me kind of getting antsy to just get the Lyr now for my 650. Plus where I'm buying this from only has a few left in stock.

I guess the only thing you need to ensure you use is the top plate.  Can customize the box as much you want.  I'd be interested in a pic upload as well.

Begrudgingly, I can do the soldering.  But the look, I could never fully embrace.

You would just be better to wait. You can do it with the l7 dock by fiio. This converts the e17 to dac mode. Then you'd go mini out from the dock to rca on the lyr. It would be some trouble and wouldn't sound great IMO...and yes, I've tried it.

I prefer the look of the wooaudio amps but they are so expensive.. and plus I need to do a design project for IB and my teacher approved the crack as a project. So why not kill 2 birds with one stone?wink.gif

Okay, I'll just wait. Thanks for the heads up.
