Sennheiser HD650 Impressions Thread - Page 441

I'm considering paining my HD650's a metallic silver or something. Would I just take them into a shop and have them professionally spray painted or something?

I've heard that the SR-71B is a fantastic portable amp for almost any full sized headphone. A lot of people say it has the sonics of a very good desktop amp.

I'd like to see someone try something more adventurous... like FUSCHIA! bigsmile_face.gif

All kidding aside, this is likely something you can do yourself if you're good at laying down multiple layers of spray can paint and sanding down each layer with a high grit paper until it's really well done.

I'd do them myself but I've taken mine apart for fear I'd break the whole thing and cry profusely.

no worries, almost everything in this can is "clip-on" even the driver capsule.

Once you removed the driver there is nothing you can possibly destroy.

But you should remove the sound-screen as well... if you spraypaint this part you'll have a different sounding can.

Why do I keep coming back to the hd650 like comfort food. I listened to my ms pros all day today, which I love by the way, but after 2 hrs they were too much and I reverted to the comfort of the hd650s like a safe port in a storm or chicken soup when I have a cold. Safe, warm, comfortable, dependable hd650s - I think for this reason alone they are my no. 1 can and my greatest allrounder recommendation

Lol.  I last left this thread some 150 posts ago, and it's still just a raging cable debate for the most part.

I like the look of the painted HD650s, though I can think of better colors.

Austin Morrow, do link with pictures if you go ahead and do it.

If I do, I shall definitely post pictures.

Since I lack the funds to buy both an amp and these headphones at the same time, is it better if I buy the amp first and then get these? i only have an FiiO e7 and I doubt that can get anywhere near juicing these things.

I would buy the headphones first. I'm sure you're going to love them, even with the E7.

But since I plan on buying it with credit, I think I am going to go with the cheaper(amp) of the two. I try to limit my spending by only buying one big thing with my credit card. It helps me wait to purchase anything else until that is paid off.

What's the point of buying an amp if you have no headphones to drive? Would definitely wait a bit to save up for the headphones first. Then figure out the amp later...

I'd buy the HD650 again if it were available in that glossy Storm Trooper white.

I am listening to the HD 650 unamped from an Ipod Nano latest rev. But it is the European version that has limited volume. Even though I have to turn up the volume to near max, the sound is very good already.
