It shouldn't be against the rules regardless of who designed it... its a headphone amp and probably some of the best bang for your buck, However if you want a good dac along with the amp the nfb12 is your best choice for a combo dac/amp

That's true in many cases, while others not so much.  Take the Burson HA-160D for instance, an exceptional amp and DAC combo.
