Sennheiser HD650 Impressions Thread - Page 288

The Music Streamer II (not +) is good, but I doubt it will make a big difference over a cheaper DAC - it didn't for me. I don't know why people automatically turn to to the expensive + version - can't possibly be worth it.

I was definitely quite rough with the PX100s (actually I would probably still continue to buy them if they were available, no other portable headphone will ever compare) but I treated the HD650 like a queen.  It certainly seems to be the driver.

The issue that I mentioned is where the internal contacts with the cable break. Inside is a pretty flimsy little wire, if you open them up you may be able to see if it broke, or if the springs are not making a good contact.

Noisy is a free white/pink noise generator for OS X, very simply interface, ON/White/Pink 3 buttons in a small window.

There is also a $15 AudioTest which has wave generators and noise generators, it has a free trial, but after the second launch it prompts a registration window every few minutes, but it still functions.

Crank your headphones up to moderate to you listening leves, nothing too crazy and let them do their thing, that's not saying you can't just listen to music too and let them evolve.

So if anyone knows of an open headphone that is wonderful quality, with a similar veiled (low on treble, higher on bass and mids) Sennheiser house sound I'd love to hear suggestions.

Here are a few suggestions for ya:

Audez'e LCD-2

Hifiman HE-300, HE-500

Grace m902 :) edit: or the WA2. m902 crisp, clear, open and tight, WA2 bloom, timbre (without loosing out on the other stuff).

I'd just pay the piper and get them fixed.  Sennheiser will replace both drivers with a matched set.

Btw, did you buy them new?  Do you live in a humid climate or near the shore?  When not in use, do you store them in a large zip-loc?  <--- just asking

Currently going back and forth on HD-650 and HE-500's. The 650 has a much more enticing price range. But I already own an HD-600 (which I love. I love the clarity and the acoustics, but found the bass lacking).

I own both the HRT Streamer II and the + version, to be honest I can't detect much difference if any other then the price difference.  Maybe is my source aren't the best quality, but I won't recommend people buy the + version for extra 200 dollars.

That's very interesting. I have read reviews saying that the MSII+ sounds noticeably better but I am skeptical. Probably just placebo.

Anyone have experience with HD 650 + Graham Slee Solo Ultra Linear?

The only big difference probably is the HRT music streamer II+ sounds louder than the streamer II at the same volume.

I didn't do too much comparison among the two, but honestly the music about the same between the two neglect the volume difference.

Hey guys, I am currently using a pair of LCD 2 Rev 2s, however have got a deal for a pair of hd650s very cheap. Do you guys think I should get it? Will I be dissapointed by the sound? (Btw, I intend to recable them for balanced operation) Thanks in advance.
