That's It...

That's it... you can also see it from the outside.

ahh i have no idea to find out if i have new ones, probably not since i bought them used.

But yes, These things ROCK! I still got to get used to the laid back sound but everything else is just better.. well compared to my sr80's. Hooked them up with my d2 boa which to my surprise can power these suckers up.

Also got these for an amazing deal. just makes it all sweeter.. though my wallet still hurts..

Yeh! As long as the "laid back sound" suits you the 650s are hard to beat. I am finding myself listening to them more than my Stax Lambdas and my Shure SE530s in part because I really like the warm laid back sound. And the bass is the best of the three in terms of overall bass experience.

It's definately different. Though grado will forever be my first audiophile experience, it's time to set them aside and experience other sounds. I'm currently burning them in since the previous owner only listened to them for a total of 10 hours.. Lots of burning in to be done as well as my boa.

cd3000 , akg 501 , grado HP1000 , alessandro MS2 , ATH 1000, beyer 770 ) and this is the sound signature i like the most .

im just wondering now about cable replacement which one to get - ive tried the mobius , saa equinox and cardas . i havent tried the others.

I only recently got seriously back into the hobby myself.
I think you will be very pleased with the changes that Senn has made to the HD650s. I have had my new version for a couple of weeks now and love the new sound qualities.
You have definitely sampled some of the best replacement cables avaialable.
About the only one I would add to your list would be APS. That is what I plan on getting for my HD650 although the cable that comes with them is actually pretty good surprisingly given my horrible experience with Senn cables in the past. The cable on the HD595s that I have was totally worthless.

The RAL Cable Is...

The RAL Cryo-Silver Cable is the best I've heard with them.

Though, the stock cable is excellent - I'm not really sure, a cable upgrade is required, with the sound of the "new" HD650s - there's very little difference between it and the RAL.

That's how much the "new" HD650s have improved - "amazing" really.

That possibly explains such a widely varying opinion on those phones. I'd be curious to pick up an "old HD650" to hear it actually.

Do you still have old HD650 around to do real A/B comparison test? Audio memory is a very short lived thing to rely on.

you just might save me a few hundred dollars then .

what i want to do is borrow some cables to try out if there are generous head fiers willing to lend cables , and then from there buy the one that i really like .

I cant afford to buy every cable and sell it later if i dont like it .

Anyone out there willing to let me sample HD650 cables - of course ill pay for shipping .

Good luck on finding cables to borrow. I don't have any extras lying around currently. Most of us tend to keep only what we need and sell the rest. They are just too expensive to keep extras for most of us.
I noticed from you profile that you do not have any kind of headphone amp currently. In my opinion, given that the stock HD650 cables are actually pretty good, you would get a lot more bang for your buck by putting money towards a good amp that pairs well with the 650s.
My current choice for less than $500 is the tubed Darkvoice 332. You can get excellent amps a lot cheaper, but the Darkvoice line just seems to be born to pair with the 650s.
The best reasonably priced amp that works well with the 650s is the boa from ibasso. You can find out more about it from the boa tread where there are a lot of comments about the pairing and its limitations.
The boa can be had for about $185 shipped from China. That is actually cheaper than a top line replacement cable. That is what my boa cost me about a month ago. My Darkvoice 332 was about $450 shipped. Since it is a fairly large tubed amp, shipping was about $75 of that total.
